Don’t throw in the towel . . .

. . . until you’ve thrown in the prayer!

Prayer changes things. I believe in prayer. I say and think prayers all the time. Bet you do too: Lord, help me get through this day, help my child, help me find a parking place, help me pay these bills…. Help!  But prayer isn’t just asking for help. Prayer is communicating with our creator, our provider, our guide in life. Prayer is a direct line to The Most Powerful Enabler in the universe: God!  He can cause sudden shifts in troubling, impossible situations, unexpected opportunities, reconciliation, and healing. Prayer produces positive emotions in the brain…better than an antidepressant!

God understands and feels what you can’t express. God will always answer your prayer. Like a text, you know it’s delivered, but sometimes you don’t get a response right away.  Have faith, God received your prayer and will work things out for your good with a yes, no, or wait for his perfect timing–sometimes at the 11th hour! Trust God for complete control of all circumstances surrounding you. Internal anxieties and fears for tomorrow will rest in peace of mind as you let go and let God.

Oh Wait! Do you know God? I’ll tell you how I came to know God. I learned from my church upbringing and The Bible, you must believe in and accept God’s son, Jesus. Read the scriptures. If the King James sounds complicated, get a Revised Standard Version that will speak in modern language. The Gospel of John is a perfect place to become acquainted with Jesus who said in John 14:6: “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me.”   The great evangelist Billy Graham ended all his messages with an invitation to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, to come just as you are, with your faults and failures, to believe Jesus died for you, and that he rose from the dead. Once you make this decision, you can rest knowing God hears your prayers. If this was good enough for Billy Graham, I’m all in.

Prayer changes things. Prayer changes us!  But without Jesus, we don’t have a prayer!

“I always begin my prayer in silence. It’s in the silence of the heart God speaks. We need to listen to God, because It is not what we say to God, but what He says to us and through us that matters.” ~ Mother Teresa
