Spotting a Snowy Owl
Spotting a snowy owl
I hope would grant 9 years
of clarity and wisdom.
My page on the iPad
is as white as a snowy owl,
blending into the icy northlands.
If only I could decipher the
marks upon her wing, I could
write something worth reading.
What would I read there?
Her story of decline?
Her numbers are plummeting
like other polar creatures.
The tundra is shrinking,
leaving no space to thrive.
Vulnerable to foxes and wolves
and man, a predator in her own right,
she tricks the eye with her whiteness.
Despite her famous beauty she is not seen
often and so even a thought in her direction
brings a blank page to life.
